0.1-22kW · 1-phase 200V, 3-phase 200V, 400V and 575V · LD and ND ratings · STO to SIL3 · IP66/IP67 version
The FR-E800 is the micro drive in the Mitsubishi Electric FR series, succeeding the FR-E700. It packs five control methods, a built-in PLC function, dual-port Ethernet with the main open protocols, safety communication models and AI-assisted fault diagnosis into a compact body, from 0.1kW to 22kW.
The FR-E800 covers 0.1kW to 22kW on three-phase 200V, 0.4kW to 22kW on three-phase 400V and 0.1kW to 2.2kW on single-phase 200V, with a 575V family to 7.5kW. Three-phase models carry two ratings: normal duty (150% for 60 seconds) and light duty (120% for 60 seconds), which lets a 22kW unit run a motor of up to 30kW on lighter loads. Control runs from V/F through advanced magnetic flux vector, real sensorless vector and PM sensorless vector, to full vector control with an encoder option, so the FR-E800 handles IE3 and IE4 induction motors, permanent magnet motors and simple positioning of up to seven points.
The series comes in three versions. The standard FR-E800 communicates over RS-485 with Modbus RTU. The FR-E800-E has two Ethernet ports supporting CC-Link IE TSN, CC-Link IE Field Network Basic and Modbus/TCP, with EtherNet/IP and BACnet/IP, PROFINET or EtherCAT depending on the model. The FR-E800-SCE adds safety communication and raises functional safety from safe torque off (SIL2, PL d) to SIL3 and PL e, with safe stop, safely limited speed and safe brake control without an encoder. For washdown and outdoor locations, the FR-E846 is a 400V version sealed to IP66 and IP67.
For maintenance, life diagnosis tracks the capacitors, cooling fan, inrush circuit and relay, and FR Configurator2 uses Mitsubishi Electric’s Maisart AI to analyse overcurrent, overvoltage and overload trips and point to the likely cause. A built-in PLC function lets simple sequences run in the inverter itself. Where straightforward speed control up to 15kW is all that is needed, the FR-D800 Series is the simpler option.

The standard FR-E800 has RS-485 with Modbus RTU. The FR-E800-E adds two Ethernet ports for the main open industrial networks. The FR-E800-SCE adds safety communication over those networks and lifts functional safety to SIL3 and PL e, with additional safety functions such as safely limited speed.
All Ethernet models support CC-Link IE TSN, CC-Link IE Field Network Basic and Modbus/TCP. EPA models add EtherNet/IP and BACnet/IP, EPB models add PROFINET, and EPC models support EtherCAT.
When the inverter trips on overcurrent, overvoltage or overload during speed control, FR Configurator2 uses Mitsubishi Electric’s Maisart AI to analyse the drive data and point to the likely cause, which shortens fault finding and downtime.
Yes. The FR-E846 is a 400V model from 0.75kW to 3.7kW (normal duty), sealed to IP66 and IP67 and UL Type 4X for indoor use, with a built-in C2 EMC filter. It is supplied as a safety communication model.
The FR-E800, family for family: FR-E710W to FR-E810W, FR-E720S to FR-E820S, FR-E720 to FR-E820 and FR-E740 to FR-E840. Mounting dimensions are the same for most models, with a depth increase of 12mm; a few ratings use a mounting attachment. FR Configurator2 converts FR-E700 parameters, but note the default control method changes to V/F.
Yes, using PM sensorless vector control. It also auto-tunes IE3 and IE4 induction motors, and with the encoder option it provides full vector control.
The FR-D800 is the simpler compact inverter for general speed control up to 15kW. The FR-E800 adds real sensorless and encoder vector control, a built-in PLC function, more Ethernet protocols, safety communication and AI fault diagnosis, and goes up to 22kW.
