Pujol began in Manresa, Catalonia, in 1918, designed its first gearbox in 1932 and registered the Pujol Muntalà name in 1965, when series production started. It has been part of the TECO Group since 2015.
Pujol gearboxes have been fitted to UK machinery for decades, and many of the series still running are no longer made. Older units carry earlier names – for example Pujol Muntalà on the gearbox, or perhaps Pujol Transmissions Ltd on UK paperwork. The best thing to do is send us photos of the nameplate and gearbox, and we can do the rest.

Pujol worm geared motors are often selected for vegetable production, such as grading, sorting and washing, thanks to their exceptional reliability.
Geared motors are used to drive conveyors and sort materials. Worm gearboxes are frequently used to overband magnets to reclaim ferrous metals.
Pujol is an established industrial gearbox and geared motor brand within the TECO Group, with a history dating back to 1918. Founded in Manresa, Catalonia, Pujol designed its first gearbox in 1932 and developed a strong reputation in industrial power transmission.
Pujol became part of Motovario in 2014, with Motovario subsequently joining the TECO Group in 2015. Today, Pujol and Motovario form part of TECO’s wider portfolio of motors, drives and power transmission products.
Betech has a strong relationship with the group. We are a Motovario Assembly Centre and the exclusive UK distributor for Pujol, supplying Pujol gearboxes with product selection, replacement identification and technical support. We also supply TECO motors and drives, giving customers access to complementary motor and transmission solutions.
A replacement gearbox only saves time if it bolts on. Mounting, shaft sizes, ratio and motor fitting all have to line up, or a straightforward swap turns into new baseplates, couplings and torque arms. That’s why we start from the nameplate.

We identify the unit. Series, size, ratio, mounting and input type – including older Pujol Muntalà and Pujol Transmissions units that are no longer in the catalogue.
We match it or offer the nearest replacement. Where Pujol still produces an equivalent, we’ll quote the appropriate current unit. Where the original is no longer available, we’ll identify the closest suitable replacement and highlight any differences in mounting, shaft dimensions or ratio before you order.
Reading the nameplate. On current Pujol units, a C at the end of the series code – LWPC, LWBC, IPC, IBC – means the version built to take a motor. Without the C, the gearbox has a solid input shaft. It an M features, it was most likely supplied from the factory with a motor already fitted.
Some Pujol series are no longer made, and not every obsolete unit has a direct successor. When that happens, we turn to Motovario – Pujol’s sister company within the TECO Group – and find the closest match, assembled at our Motovario Assembly Centre in Heckmondwike.
When this is the case, we will provide drawings and advise on likely differences, so you are best prepared for when your new gearbox arrives.

Current and obsolete units. We supply Pujol’s current worm and inline helical ranges, and find replacements for Pujol and Pujol Muntalà units that are no longer made.

Motors too. Pujol’s motor-coupling versions take standard IEC motors, and we stock those too.

A photo of the nameplate, ideally with photos of the gearbox, its mounting and the motor nameplate if one is fitted. The series code, size and ratio on the plate usually identify the unit. If the plate is missing or unreadable, the mounting dimensions and shaft sizes will do.
It marks the version built to take a motor. LWPC, LWBC, IPC and IBC units have a motor coupling input; LWP, LWB, IP and IB units have a solid input shaft.
Two lines: worm gearboxes – the LXW, LWP–LWB and LAC series, up to 1,025Nm – and IP–IB inline helical gearboxes, up to 617Nm. If your unit is from another Pujol range, send us the nameplate and we’ll find the right replacement.
The LXW and LWP–LWB worm gearboxes and the IP–IB inline helical gearboxes have grey cast iron casings. The LAC worm gearbox is die-cast aluminium, for lighter duties.
Yes. Pujol’s motor-coupling versions are built to accept standard IEC motors. We stock IEC frame motors too, so we can supply the gearbox and motor together.
