The SPM Series is the fully stainless steel motor in the Clean-Geartech range. Smooth 316L surfaces with no ribs or fins, IP69K sealing and IE4 efficiency make it the motor for food and beverage lines where equipment is in direct contact with product and sanitised every shift.
The SPM housing and end covers are AISI 316L stainless steel, with smooth, rib-free surfaces and no coating, so cleaning removes contamination instead of trapping it and there is no paint to flake into open product.
Frames 63 to 90 are totally enclosed non-ventilated (TENV), with no fan or cowl to collect dirt. IP69K sealing means the motor is protected against close-range jets of water at 100 bar and 80°C.
Electrically, the range covers IEC frames 63 to 100 from 0.12kW to 3.0kW in 2, 4 and 6 pole, for 230/400V 50Hz three-phase supplies. All motors are IE4 super premium efficiency, rated S1, with Class F insulation that resists the voltage spikes of inverter drives, and PTO thermal protection as standard. The 100 frame motors (2.2kW 4-pole and 3.0kW 2-pole) are totally enclosed fan cooled, with the fan and fan cover also in stainless steel.
SPM motors are available in B14, B5 and B3 foot mounting, with NEMA versions too. The B14 flange mounts directly to the VFN, VFI and BVN stainless steel gearboxes to make a fully stainless geared motor. Where the clean-down is water and mild detergent rather than aggressive chemicals, the APM Series aluminium motor does the job at a lower cost.

They are designed for food contact zones: AISI 316L stainless steel throughout, smooth rib-free surfaces, no paint and IP69K sealing, so they can be cleaned to the same standard as the machine around them. Clean-Geartech lists NSF certification for its motor range [confirm].
IP69K is the ingress protection rating for high-pressure, high-temperature washdown. It means the motor resists close-range water jets at up to 100 bar and 80°C, a much tougher test than IP66 or IP67.
Not on frames 63 to 90, which are totally enclosed non-ventilated with no fan or cowl. The 100 frame motors (2.2kW 4-pole and 3.0kW 2-pole) are fan cooled, with the fan and fan cover made from stainless steel.
Yes. The Class F insulation system is designed to withstand inverter voltage spikes, and the motors are inverter rated without a separate forced-cooling fan.
Material. The SPM is AISI 316L stainless steel and suits high-pressure hot washdown with aggressive acid or alkaline detergents. The APM has a coated aluminium body for hot or cold water washdown without aggressive chemicals, at a lower cost. Both are IE4 and IP69K.
