Clean-Geartech BVN Series Bevel Helical Gearboxes

Full AISI 316L stainless steel bevel helical gearboxes for efficient right-angle drives in washdown and hygiene-critical environments.

3 frame sizes · 130–675Nm · 0.12–4.0kW · ø20–40mm hollow output · IEC or NEMA input

The BVN Series is the stainless steel helical bevel gearbox in the Clean-Geartech range. Hardened and ground gears give a dynamic efficiency of up to 96%, inside the same smooth, polished 316L housing as the stainless worm gearboxes, so it can go on lines that are washed down with hot water and aggressive detergents.

BVN Series overview

Every part of the BVN series gearbox that faces the washdown is AISI 316L stainless steel: the housing, the hollow output shaft and the hardware. The housing is polished, with smooth radiused surfaces, sealed holes and no paint, so there is nothing to flake into the product and nowhere for water or detergent to sit.

The series covers three frame sizes in two, three and four-stage versions (X42N to X74N), with ratios from 6.03:1 to 678.79:1 and output torque from 130Nm to 675Nm.

Clean-Geartech rates the dynamic efficiency at 0.96 for two-stage units, 0.94 for three-stage and 0.92 for four-stage, and that figure holds across each unit’s ratio range. A worm gearbox loses efficiency as its ratio rises, so on continuously running conveyors, mixers and pumps the BVN puts more of the motor’s power into the load and less into heat.

The input takes IEC B14 motors from frame 63 to 100, and NEMA input versions are available. For a fully stainless steel geared motor, pair it with an SPM Series stainless steel motor. Where a right-angle worm drive is enough, the VFN Series round worm gearboxes use the same 316L grade.

Features and benefits

  • AISI 316L stainless steel housing, polished finish – no coating to chip or flake, and resistant to acidic and alkaline cleaning chemicals.
  • Hardened and ground helical bevel gears – 92–96% dynamic efficiency depending on the number of stages.
  • Wide ratio range – 6.03:1 to 678.79:1 across two-, three- and four-stage versions.
  • AISI 316L hollow output shaft – with a stainless steel solid output shaft available as an alternative.
  • IP66 as standard, IP69K on request – twin Viton seals with a 316L stainless steel shield for high-pressure, high-temperature washdown.
  • IEC and NEMA input – IEC B14 motor frames 63 to 100, or a NEMA input bore.
  • Premium input coupling – direct motor mounting with no settings and no screws.
  • Stainless steel hardware – protection cap, feet, screws and reaction arms in AISI 316L.
  • Long-life synthetic oil – with food grade oil available on request.

BVN Series FAQs

Both turn the drive through 90°, but they do it differently. A bevel helical gearbox uses hardened and ground bevel and helical gears, and its efficiency stays high across the ratio range: 92–96% on the BVN Series. A worm gearbox is simpler and compact at high single-stage ratios, but its efficiency falls as the ratio rises. For hygienic worm drives, see the VFN and VFI Series.

The BVN is IP66 as standard. Specify the twin Viton seal option, with its AISI 316L stainless steel shield, for IP69K protection against close-range high-pressure (100 bar), high-temperature (80°C) washdown.

Yes. The input bore is available in IEC and NEMA versions. IEC inputs cover B14 motor frames 63 to 100.

The X4 frame has a ø20mm bore with ø25mm as an option, the X6 frame ø30mm with ø35mm as an option, and the X7 frame ø40mm. A stainless steel solid output shaft can be fitted instead of the hollow shaft.

The SPM Series stainless steel motor, which mounts directly to the BVN input to make a fully stainless, IP69K geared motor.
