The VFN Series is the Clean-Geartech worm gearbox built entirely in AISI 316L stainless steel, from the polished round housing to the hollow output shaft and hardware. It withstands acidic and alkaline detergents and, with twin Viton seals, high-pressure hot washdown to IP69K.
The VFN series stainless steel worm gearbox is designed for the zones closest to open product, where equipment is sanitised every shift with caustic or acid-based chemicals. Its round housing is AISI 316L stainless steel with an accurate polished finish and no coating, so there is nothing to lift, chip or flake. The 316L hollow output shaft, protection cap, feet, screws and reaction arms complete a fully stainless unit.
Five sizes from N30 to N85 cover 21Nm to 347Nm, with ratios from 5:1 to 102:1. Inside, a hardened and ground worm drives a centrifugally cast nickel bronze wheel. Viton seals are standard, and the twin Viton seal option with a 316L shield gives IP69K protection.
The VFN casing has the same dimensions as the aluminium VFD Series and several common standard worm gearboxes, so it can often replace a corroding painted gearbox on an existing mounting. Pair it with an SPM Series stainless steel motor for a stainless steel worm geared motor. For torque above 347Nm or a square, modular housing, see the VFI Series.

Often, yes. The VFN casing is dimensionally interchangeable with several common standard worm gearbox brands, and a wide range of output bores is available to match the existing shaft. Send us the make, model and ratio of the unit on the machine and we will confirm the fit.
Material, shape and size range. The VFN has a round, polished AISI 316L housing and runs to 347Nm. The VFI has a square, modular AISI 304 housing and adds a larger size, up to 651Nm and a ø42mm bore. 316L contains molybdenum, which gives it better resistance to chlorides, salt and aggressive cleaning chemicals.
It is IP66 as standard. Specify twin Viton seals with the 316L stainless steel shield for IP69K, which covers close-range high-pressure (100 bar), high-temperature (80°C) washdown.
Yes. VFN gearboxes are filled with long-life synthetic oil as standard, and food grade oil is available on request.
Yes. Fitted with an SPM Series AISI 316L stainless steel motor, the VFN makes a fully stainless steel worm geared motor. For a more efficient right-angle drive at higher ratios, look at the BVN Series bevel helical gearbox.
Painted gearboxes on washed-down lines eventually shed paint or let water past the seals. A smooth, uncoated stainless unit removes both risks. Read more on the advantages of hygienic motors in manufacturing.
